[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] All the stars dance by and they sing our tune. So we scream along and soon find ourselves slightly off, but with that in mind the sound still remains beautiful. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] You know, it's so wonderful to have you by my side. Even with rows it's so nice that we have powered through day and night. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] All the moons shine down while we rest in our separate beds dreaming of each other. And sometimes we can be lonely but when we finally harmonize the sound still remains beautiful. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] You know, it's so wonderful to have you by my side. Even with rows it's so nice that we have powered through day and night.
2.
[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] My future was sealed as a nun until that day that we crossed paths. You took my breath away like no one else ever had. So many laughs that help me forget what's behind. Put me in straight and hold me to a shelf. No longer in hell you make me feel like a complete circle, a fully grown corn field. I'd never thought I'd be so intertwined like bells to bicycles. [𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] For so many moons I have shuffled the curvature of the circle that we reside in. I'm unable to move but just accept and pardon, but no matter what you are still here with me. You still see something great. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] You consider me honestly my love you give me sun soaking. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Lowly you make. Thorns every day that I can't change the frame. If I could I would in a heart beat. The way you laugh around me isn't as bright as before, only myself is held to a shelf. Tonight's set of stars I hope to be different. I feel them receding, but tonight I hope to be different. [𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲] [𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡] [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] You consider me honestly my love you give me sun soaking. [𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗮] [𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡]

[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Approach the entrance I smell the corpse of tonight. Oh smile, acknowledge, and let it pass by. Even if I know how it closes...I might as well try to get some clean answers right out of you. Is it finished? Where does it stand? [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] I try to not let uncertain come in, I can't even enjoy the food. She then massages my shoulders, I get away before I grab comfort. She lingers and stares while we eat and drink a little. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] That hanging clock in the corner is a bomb and it ticks away as our ongoing conversation sways off and then on, inpatient as I think I just need this to go well. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Take deep breaths I'm getting ahead of myself...how about silence and listen for once? As our ongoing conversation sways off and then on it finally stays in place. Cold water brushed on over some near charcoal, it goes out but not completely but for right now I guess that's just fine for my eyes. [𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲] [𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡] [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] I then got up from my seat and approached the door. I hear you, I know what you want. I agree oh so much I do. I want to be able to spark the star who we need this through. I should have done this in the shortest of times, it's just been eating me inside. We can turn the power back on we just have to take moments. Halfway agrees with her eyes, so she says "let's continue you and I." [𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗮] [𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡]

afterwards 02:00
[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Eye darting, nail biting, stirring deep down. Could have rearranged so much better. [𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I see it's not finished...however, I feel I am! [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] Afterwards I'll be under the tree. Hoping to be a ghost you can't see. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] I could get a bus to steel or feel towards a fabric. Wish I didn't think of it so much. [𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I see it's not finished...however, I feel I am! [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] Afterwards I'll be under the tree. Hoping to be a ghost you can't see.

[𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 - "𝙚𝙮𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜" (0:00)] [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Eye darting with no decisions. Missed the mark. Grass ripping.

[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Our good ending is right of sight but our good ending will be hurt by rows, or at least that's what said by my fright...I want this, I just want you. [𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I could've let it fly and somedays I wish I did, but you're just so irreplaceable and without I'd have no clue. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I don't wanna do this alone. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] I wish I could return half my size because I didn't have to question any through, or at least that's what said by my fright...even after all I still want you. [𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I could've let it fly and somedays I wish I did, but you're just so irreplaceable and without I'd have no clue. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I don't want to do this alone. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Caring so much leaves me tired but I can't shake off the feeling. No matter what it feels so perfect and other times it just kills me. [𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲] However it's necessary, because who ever said it would be easy? You have to twist as much as you can and have no fear of break, and if you do you know you did it all. It's so necessary, because who ever said it would be easy? [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I don't want to do this alone. Gotta listen I know. Share more I know. I don't want to do this alone, I won't do this alone. As long as the sun still shines I know we won't be done. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] You give me the brightest sun soaking. I can't change the date, but I can change how I currently behave as long as the sun still shines I know we won't be done.
8.
[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Eyeball direct at the target, sweat the tight room I can't miss this shot. So much repetition in circles; it's much needed, it's time for a movement. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] Reopen the bag and plant it again. Even if it doesn't blink plant it again. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] I have this idea...take the frame move it slowly. Rebuild, then relearn, take deep breaths and think finally. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] Reopen the bag and plant it again. Even if it doesn't blink plant it again. [𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲] [𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡] [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] Reopen the bag and plant it again. Even if it doesn't blink plant it again.
9.
[𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 - "𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: 𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜" (0:00)] [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] For the beautiful moment I need to see the speed of light through the vacuum. Take a long look, a very long one...it will be good for the both of us. Better for you. [𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 - "𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨" (1:09)] [𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹]

Harvest 05:05
[𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 - "𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 (𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚𝙙): 𝙄 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣" (0:00)] [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Muse the fright, see the shadow start to hide behind me where I can't see. I need to make effort to escape the fate...I think there's an exit. Hanging carefully upon the eye halls, a taste that will renew my life. I can't let this go away; a tiny tear that needs a sew, the box is far but not out of touch. I only have myself to hold. Hanging carefully upon the eye halls, a taste that will renew my life. [𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 - "𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩" (1:40)] [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] All the stars slow down they are glowing upon me, and surrounding my eyes. I realize I was so wrong for much of our life. Baffled, annoyed, ashamed of the goat in the hall. He makes a call. No one hears him at first but as soon as he gets louder and louder it's difficult to ignore his roar. It seems about time to build up that courage for silence, and so it is. Harvest perfectly the crops for tonight, no longer afraid to show how much you mean to me. [𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣  - "𝙖 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙘𝙧𝙮" (3:27)] [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] Tears escape my eyes, I don't want to imagine a life without you. I'd say you'd be worthy of better but I'll decide to just be the better that you deserve. Tears escape my eyes, I don't want to imagine a life without you. I'll stop the imagine. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] I'm just so blessed to have you in my life! I love you more than you can ever imagine!
11.
[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] With honesty I needed that look sooner. You pierced me and refilled with your love. I now know what I need to do, accept what I can't change and embrace my love for you. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] It seems like everyday we're getting bigger, it's so wonderful to have you by my side. [𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] I admit it's hard to not think about, but I still see who I truly am in the mirror there'll be cracks but I know we can seal them together. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] It seems like everyday we're getting bigger, it's so wonderful to have you by my side. [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] It seems like everyday I have to make these steps and if I end up a fall I'll rise again.
12.
[𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲] With the snow beneath the bottoms we've grown colder with no direct way for our beat. My hand in yours with reading glasses I'm relearning the curve to sync. [𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲] You give me sun soaking in all of the great and heated ways, I just can't think of anyone else I'd rather let twist. Even after all I can't let it go, so instead I'll keep on until I can't no more. So my love with that in mind... [𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀] One day at a time I'll learn all the new ways I work so I can love you the way it was meant to be. Then one day at the perfect time, our hearts will hopefully beat in sync once more again.

about

This is our second batch of songs. We wrote and recorded them from October 2020 - March 2022.

Thank you so much for listening.

"Much like their 2020 debut, “pink, black, and orange in the corners,” Pueblo, CO duo lobsterfight (Anguel Sanchez, James Gove)’s sophomore LP, “Sun Soaking” is defined only by its refusal to fit into any boundaries. Chaos is, unlike in previous releases, not the first word that comes to mind upon pressing play on this album, ever-present it remains. The opening track, ‘grasshopper and i,’ is a deceptively calm introduction to Sun Soaking, though in no way out of place. lobsterfight exists in the founding echelon of the internet-dubbed ‘fifth wave’ of emo music, and this album features guest spots from folks in the same circles; Bands that, while sharing few tangible sonic qualities with lobsterfight, are thrown under the same label (Sun Soaking boasts contributions from Brandon Macdonald of Home is Where, Jacob West of C H Point and Summer 2000, Tyler Odom of Your Arms Are My Cocoon, Gunnar Stephens of Rookie Card, and Caleb Haynes of Rookie Card and Hey, Ily!).
While Sun Soaking shares much with its predecessor, its production stands above P,B,&OITC, maintaining lobsterfight’s scrappy, lo-fi sound while allowing calm to mix in with chaos, songs like ‘afterwards’ shining between yells as a near-waltz. Sun Soaking, much like the eponymous action, is refreshing. An album that contains dazzlingly little guitar is rare in the emo genre (though lobsterfight could easily fit under a million other genres, or none for that matter), and here it is for the better. Self-recorded music tends to have a specific sound to it, and while Sun Soaking is no different, lobsterfight tames this quality, using it to their advantage rather than allowing it to simply exist as a background element.
Sun Soaking does not see lobsterfight shedding chaos – nor should it – but rather demonstrates their mastery over it.
